Coordinator, Welcoming Centre

Join the Welcoming Australia team, coordinating the Welcoming Centre in Adelaide

This important role is responsible for coordinating the development and growth of the Welcoming Centre initiative in Adelaide, South Australia. Support provided at the Centre includes: referral to various services and employment pathways; access to emergency food parcels and other assistance for those facing hardship; English language classes and social English gatherings; a Community Garden; and, Community Dinners, events and participation in other social and sporting activities. Responsibilities of the Coordinator include:

  • Centre Coordination & Administration
  • Program & Volunteer Coordination
  • Partnership Coordination
  • Communication & Promotion

The Welcoming Centre is a community centre (based in Adelaide, South Australia) established out of an identified need to create a safe, supportive and welcoming space for refugee families, people seeking asylum, recently arrived migrants, and the local community. The Centre provides access to essential support, and social and intercultural connection – with a focus on building authentic relationships that help people to engage more effectively in the diversity of Australian life.

Employment Opportunity

Position: Coordinator, Welcoming Centre
Work Type/s: Contract (Part-time, 3 days per week)
Duration: Contracted until 30 June 2021 with a 3 month probationary period
Location: Adelaide (Bowden), South Australia
