  • live in South Australia
  • have a valid visa to work or study
  • are 17 or older and
  • are not enrolled in school

About the Course:

Become job ready and learn the essential computer and communication skills you need to apply for work, and in the workplace. This course will help you to find and secure a job, as well as seek further training options, in a supportive and practical learning environment.

You’ll also learn how to confidently identify the skills you already have and match them to the requirements and expectations of certain roles, and build your communication skills for a professional environment.

About the Course:

Improving your English language skills can help to build your confidence for everyday life and prepare you for work and study. This practical course will help you to identify your employment goals and to read, write and speak effectively in an Australian work environment.

This course includes plenty of information and time to practice in class. You will feel more confident communicating with your boss and asking questions, and feel comfortable greeting people.

The course topics include:

  • Developing your English reading and writing skills
  • Pronunciation, sentence structure and tenses
  • Improving your spoken English skills
  • Identifying ‘professional’ versus ‘casual’ language
  • Effectively communicating your work history, current skills and employment goals
  • Identifying your skills for specific roles
  • Creating a professional resume
  • Preparing for work and study in an Australian context
  • How to fill in templates and forms
  • Sending professional emails

About the Course:

Workplaces and places of study require us to have a working knowledge of computer programs and internet-based technologies. This course will help you to build the digital skills you need to confidently pursue and engage in work and study.

This course includes practical, step-by-step activities and group discussions, and will guide you on how to use different computer and internet-based applications to perform various tasks. Laptops are provided for use in class, or you can bring your own.

The course topics include:

  • Word processing
  • Internet browsing
  • Emailing
  • Online storage via the cloud
  • Internet safety, confidentiality and online privacy
  • Video conferencing
  • Netiquette and communication in a professional context
  • Tailoring your resume and cover letter to specific roles
  • Job searching and creating an online job profile
