All classes are FREE and available to community members who:

  • live in South Australia
  • have a valid visa to work or study
  • are 17 or older and
  • are not enrolled in school

  • Kickstart your Employment:
    • Mondays 10am – 2.00pm, commencing 1 May
  • Language Skills for Work – three class options:
    • Mondays 6.00pm – 9.00pm, commencing 1 May or
    • Tuesdays 10.00am – 2.00pm, commencing 2 May or
    • Wednesdays 6.00pm – 9.00pm, commencing 3 May

About the Course:

Identify the skills employers are looking for that you already have, expand your job seeking methods, improve your ability to answer interview questions, write a winning cover letter, and create a resume that will get you the job.

You’ll also learn how to match your skills to the requirements and expectations of certain roles, explore further training options, and learn the essential computer and communication skills you need to apply for work and in the workplace, in a supportive and practical learning environment. This course will help you develop the tools you need to seek and secure employment.

  • Exploring your career and study options

  • Job search methods and the hidden job market
  • Assessing your suitability for specific roles
  • Tailoring cover letters and resumes

About the Course:

Improving your English language skills can help to build your confidence for everyday life and prepare you for work and study. This practical course will help you to identify your employment goals and to read, write and speak effectively in an Australian work environment.

This course includes plenty of information and time to practice in class. You will feel more confident communicating with your boss, asking questions and feel comfortable greeting people.

The course topics include:

  • Developing your English reading and writing skills
  • Pronunciation, sentence structure and tenses
  • Improving your spoken English skills
  • Identifying ‘professional’ versus ‘casual’ language
  • Effectively communicating your work history, current skills and employment goals
  • Identifying your skills for specific roles
  • Creating a professional resume
  • Preparing for work and study in an Australian context
  • How to fill in templates and forms
  • Sending professional emails
